Warm Feet In Winter

JM Perez By JM Perez1 min read1.1K views

It’s that time of year again and this season, I am doing the best I can to avoid any form of cold injury. Last winter I suffered from a mild case of chilblain and I was quite miserable.

Some of you may remember the furry Report Cove, an Alpine-inspired boot. I purchased mine back in 2006 (just because I found them interesting). They turned out to be very useful 12 years later and are now part of my favorite Winter boots.

Although I am not a fan of UGG® (some of the designs can be an eyesore, to say the least); however, these shoes are well made, light, extremely comfortable and will keep your feet comfortably warm.

UGG® Maylin Ankle Boots.

Surprisingly, my UGG® Raana Rain Boots are the most comfortable of them all. Too bad I can’t wear them all the time.

I like UGG® Boots and I love Sneakers, so when I saw the gorgeous fusion in these UGG® Mika Classic Sneakers, I was drawn like a magnet. They are not only beautiful, but comfortable and warm too. I got all the colors available (Antilope, Black and Chestnut).

I hope you keep your feet warm throughout the Winter season.

Rediscovering High Heels

JM Perez By JM Perez2 min read624 views

Today is clean up day at Home and I started with my Closet.

I knew I had too many shoes, but you never really know exactly how much until you take a closer look. I have been so reluctant to go through them as they are neatly stored and “don’t seem” to take much space. I am so ashamed to admit that some of them are still brand new and have been that way for years. Working for a shoe company at some point really helped suppress my love for acquiring more and I am very thankful for that.
I stopped wearing high heels when I became a Mom and I’m not sure I could ever walk comfortably in them anymore. Well, a 4″ is  still doable provided that it allows me to lean down, pick up my babies without straining a muscle. I am holding on to a few from my favorite brands Diesel®, Puma® and New Balance® (they make comfortable and breathable shoes). My current obsession are Flats, and they go well with pretty much any outfit.

Ravel, Bamboo & Two Lips Pumps
1. Ravel’s Rarity Low Peep Toe. 2. Two Lips® Destiny. 3. Bamboo Captivate Bow Pump.

The shoes above are those I am definitely keeping. I received them as gifts. Ravel’s Rarity was a gift from a cousin in London following my graduation. The others are from my dear husband. Two Lips Destiny was a gift following the birth of our Son and Bamboo Captivate was a gift following the birth of our Daughter. These shoes are super comfortable.

The Circus Cutout Suede Bootie by Christian Louboutin were my 2010 Christmas Gift from one of my junior brothers. I love them and they are one of the most expensive shoes I own to date.

Going through my shoes in shoe boxes, I found a few I am no longer in need of and others which simply don’t fit right. I will sell a few and donate others. I will hold on to this gorgeous Strappy Pumps by Simonelli, 100% made from Recycled Materials (as I was told seven years ago). I also listed some Vintage Dolls and Vintage Clothing.

Gift Ideas for The Holidays

JM Perez By JM Perez3 min read3.3K views

It’s almost that time of year again when giving is on the rise and you want to give the best Holiday gift to your loved ones. I know there are so many stores/shops to check out (by all means, do, if you can and have the time). My advice to those of you who are planning to shop in-store is to start by checking the clearance section of your favorite stores, you just might find some hidden treasures.
I am compiling a list of Online Stores I absolutely trust and love for their amazing products and prices.

  • Yves Rocher. Are you looking for Skin Care, Body Care, Hair Care Products, Makeup, Fragrances? Then this website is for you. The best thing about Yves Rocher is that he created Botanical Beauty based on the treasures of the botanical world and its infinite potential. Also, you are rewarded each time you make a purchase. As of now, they offer free shipping on orders of $40 or more and you have the opportunity to choose one free gift amongst six that they are offering. I will be going for the Oriental Massage Oil, Elixir.

  • Collections Etc. Another site similar to this one is The Lakeside Collection. They both carry a huge variety of items on Home Essentials, Garden Accessories, Men/Women clothing and accessories, unique gifts and so much more. I am fond of their unique selection of Solar Powered Lights.

  •  A good bottle of Wine. Do you have a Wine Lover on your list or are you a Wine Lover yourself?
  • Visit your Local Vintage Shop. Support Local Vendors and give the gift of remembrance to that one person on your list who is fond of ‘Old’ things (it could be jewelry, furniture, music instrument, painting, etc!)
  • Make your Own Gift. By now you should know exactly what everyone on your list likes. Some people enjoy hand made stuff from their loved ones (for keepsake). If you have someone like that on your list then think about hand writing a Poem or creating something beautiful with the supplies you already have on hand. Cook a delicious and healthy Meal. Bake cookies and pass them out to family and friends. Donate things you no longer need as long as they’ve been gently used (Books, Toys, Board Games, Clothes, Furniture, Toiletries, Non-Perishable Food, Money, etc!) If you are considering donating books or know someone who’s thinking about donating, check out this website.
  • GIVE YOUR TIME. Gifts are awesome. Truth is, however, that we simply don’t need them. Time, on the other hand, is much needed and we cannot reset. Be there for your loved ones and if you can’t be there physically, reach out somehow and let them know how much they mean to you. Let them know how much you love and appreciate them. Donate your time to the less fortunate. Make a difference by volunteering. Being a Universal Blood Donor, I will be donating some blood if it can help provide the gift of life and health to someone else.

Fall 2012 Trend: Wide-Leg Pants

JM Perez By JM Perez1 min read631 views

As I mentioned in an older post; I am drawn to old things with character.

I am pretty much what some people refer to as ‘old school’ and my darling Father calls me ‘an old woman in a younger body.’ I inherited a blue Vintage 1960’s Silk 2-Pc Wide Leg Lounge Set/Pajama from my late Sister, who had inherited them from our Mother. I am now saving it for my daughter, whom I hope, will cherish it as much as we all did.

Wide-Leg Pants have always been my absolute wardrobe staple. One of the best things about them is that they can be paired and styled in so many ways (and you don’t have to be ‘tall’ or ‘slim’ to look good in them as they flatter every body type and shape). There’s something about their slimming and elongating effect …

The other types of pants I own beside Wide-Leg Pants are Leggings, Skinny Jeans, Ankle Pants and my indispensable Straight-Leg Sweatpants; I absolutely adore Straight Leg Pants. You can pair all of the above with Short jackets, blazers, simple tops, solid tops, shirts, sweaters, sleeveless blouses, etc. You can wear them with towering Sandals, chunky heels, high heels, wedges and flats. It’s always a good idea to try a few and stick to what works best for your body type and shape.

Click here for some tips on how to wear them and where to buy them.

Chloé Stretch-wool felt Wide-Leg Pants . Rebecca Taylor Stretch Wide-Leg Pants . Iceberg Dogtooth Wide-Leg Trouser
Stella McCartney Erin wool-twill flared Pants . Maxmara Pescia Trousers . J.crew Sasha Wool-crepe Wide-Leg Pants.
Ann Taylor Signature Wide-Leg Pants . Joseph Feline High-waisted Wide-leg Pants . Yves Saint Laurent Wide-leg Stretch-wool Pants.

Don’t forget the accessories to finish off your look!
