Great Vintage Finds

JM Perez By JM Perez2 min read1.2K views

Hello everyone, I hope you’re having a great start to your week. I have been very busy these days and very blessed too. Today I would like to show you a few gorgeous vintage pieces I recently added to my collection.

  • A Josef Originals Bride musical figurine. She slowly spins around while playing “Bridal March.”
Josef Originals Musical Figurine, Bride.
  • A 1960’s Flapper Dress/Drop Waist Gatsby Dress with matching cream Lace Blouse by Miss Ashlee of California. As I was scanning through a row of clothes crammed together, I could sense a promising outfit. The dress was still wrapped in plastic and appeared to had never been worn. As I lifted the lace blouse, my heart leaped with joy at the sight of the drop waist Gatsby Dress underneath, as I was dazzled by its beauty.
Since the dress was missing the maker tag, I went on the Federal Trade and Commission website and punched in the RN number on the care label to get information on the designer, which turned out to be Miss Ashlee.

Miniature Fairy Gardens

JM Perez By JM Perez1 min read1.6K views

I love tending to my gardens and for as long as I can remember, I have been enchanted by Fairy Gardens with their hidden mysteries and treasures. My Garden is the place where I go to retreat, reflect and relax and I design it to reflect my character,  personality and inner spirit.

My daughter, who is fond of the backyard fairy garden, requested to create a miniature version for herself. We used a set of Vintage Drawers we purchased last Summer from Estate Liquidators. My daughter immediately put hers to use while her brother was still figuring out what to do with his. Most of the accessories are from Michaels, Linda Marie’s Enchanted Treasures, Kreative Klutter and the rest are home made.

Early this afternoon on our way to pick up a few tools from Harbor Freight Tools, my husband’s eyes spotted beautiful selections of outdoor decor while searching for a parking spot. We parked next to the entrance of the little shop, Kreative Klutter, as a reminder to check it out before leaving.

Downtown Pomona Finds

After picking up my Son from school this afternoon, we drove straight to Downtown Pomona, which is one of our favorite places to shop for Vintage and Antique pieces. After shopping and prior to leaving, my kids asked to play around the water fountains. We spent more time around the Mosaic Goddess and while they were busy running around, I admired the great work of art of Millard Sheets. You can read about the painter here.

Like with any other visit, we started by visiting one of our favorite shops, the Pomona Antique Mart. My children love this shop because of its three levels and going up and down on the stairs is always a thrill for them and a chore for us. We left the shop with two items we found at the basement. The first item is a Shabby Chic/Cottage Chic Stool with Wrought Iron Legs and the second is a Gulf Shrimp Nautical Sign.

I love the beautiful little stool. I will reupholster in new fabric down the road once I find one that I like.

Sadly for us, Cheryl’s Antiques was closed for the day along with a few other shops. We visited Olde Towne Pomona Antique Mall, where my husband bought a few Vintage Micro Machines and a Vintage Wooden Suitcase with Plastic Handle (possibly a tool box or a filer).

Cute Vintage Finds

Early this afternoon we returned to the Estate Liquidators to purchase what was left of the 1920’s-1940’s Vintage Chippendale Pull with cast iron bail a couple of weeks earlier (see them here). This time I made sure I took all the dismantled pieces of the drawers including those I left behind last time.

My husband found a couple of old gardening tools he’s been wanting to acquire for a long time. My boy was more interested in Shells and got a few for a craft project. As for my daughter, she found two of her favorite characters stuffed toys which she immediately grabbed. A ballerina Smurfette and Hello Kitty, both vintage. The Smurfette was produced by Applause, Inc. (founded as Wallace Berrie & Co., Inc) and is marked 1984 Peyo.

The Hello Kitty is a 1996 nylon plush doll and was distributed in the  United States by Sanrio, Inc.

As for me, I found a few things. The one I love the most is this tall Vintage Grey Smoke Glass Cylinder Vase.

My second favorite vintage find is a 1977 Lil’ Miz “Whisk-It” (Millet Grass Whisk-Broom) by Westwood Import Co., Inc. This beauty comes right on time as I will be making my Fall wreath in a few day and she will play an important part.

Kenner Vintage Dolls

JM Perez By JM Perez2 min read1.5K views

Here at Home we love to collect things; new or old, we love them all as long as they make our hearts sing. My husband collects Mechwarrior pieces. My Son collects Hot Wheels Muscle Cars. My Daughter and I love the Strawberry Shortcake Dolls. However, while I am old-fashioned, she is new age and we are both happy Collectors.

Growing up, I owned a few of these gorgeous dolls. I used to wonder how something so small could be so perfect? If you own one of these beauties, then you know that they are beautifully made. My Father traveled a lot and while serving his country abroad, he always returned home with lots of souvenirs for my siblings and I. I remember how people made fun of us back in 1990 because we were all sporting the Converse All-Stars with Multi-Colored Shoelaces. I guess we were cool back then without realizing how cool we were.

My parents didn’t believe in quantity, but they did in quality. I wasn’t a spoiled Child, but I had the best. I had a few dolls, which I really liked and some I am sure, are stored at my Parents’ house. As of today, I have managed to collect all of the original Strawberry Shortcake Dolls and pets by Kenner, except for one:

  • Strawberry Shortcake with Custard, Cat
  • Blueberry Muffin with Cheesecake, Mouse
  • Orange Blossom with Marmalade, Butterfly
  • Lemon Meringue with with Frappe, Frog
  • Raspberry Tart with Rhubarb, Monkey
  • Huckleberry Pie with Pupcake, Dog
  • Lime Chiffon with Parfait, Parrot
  • Angel Cake with Souffle, Skunk
  • Almond Tea with Marza, Panda
  • Crêpe Suzette with Éclair, Poodle
  • Mint Tulip with Marsh Mallard, Duck

  • Butter Cookie with Jelly, Bear
  • Apple Dumpling with Tea Time, Turtle

  • Peach Blush with Melonie Belle, Lamb
  • Plum Puddin’ with Elderberry, Owl
  • Purple Pie Man with Captain, Cackle

The babies are gorgeous. I just need Banana Twirl with Berrykin, Banana to complete my Collection (she’s rare, expensive and hard to find). My favorites are Café Olé, Huckleberry Pie, Peach Blush and Plum Puddin’.
