I love wreaths and I have a couple for each season; however, I have been thinking about making some changes in the decor style. I thought about an item I have in every single space around the house, and the majestic wicker baskets came to mind. I have so many storage wicker baskets in the house, in various sizes and colors. They are really neat, great for displaying items, organizing as well as keeping things out of sight. They are so versatile and make great accent pieces.
Not too long ago, I rekindled my love for wicker wall hanging baskets. I am enamored with the idea of stuffing them with flowers and hanging them on doors and walls, like the ones below:
I hope you’ve enjoyed this post and found inspiration.
After picking up my Son from school this afternoon, we drove straight to Downtown Pomona, which is one of our favorite places to shop for Vintage and Antique pieces. After shopping and prior to leaving, my kids asked to play around the water fountains. We spent more time around the Mosaic Goddess and while they were busy running around, I admired the great work of art of Millard Sheets. You can read about the painter here.
Like with any other visit, we started by visiting one of our favorite shops, the Pomona Antique Mart. My children love this shop because of its three levels and going up and down on the stairs is always a thrill for them and a chore for us. We left the shop with two items we found at the basement. The first item is a Shabby Chic/Cottage Chic Stool with Wrought Iron Legs and the second is a Gulf Shrimp Nautical Sign.
I love the beautiful little stool. I will reupholster in new fabric down the road once I find one that I like.
Sadly for us, Cheryl’s Antiques was closed for the day along with a few other shops. We visited Olde Towne Pomona Antique Mall, where my husband bought a few Vintage Micro Machines and a Vintage Wooden Suitcase with Plastic Handle (possibly a tool box or a filer).
Last year while visiting the shops up in Crestline, CA; we decided to check one more shop before driving back home. So, we stopped at the Crest Forest Senior Citizens Thrift Shop (this little thrift shop has two levels and both are full of beautiful items. From books to household items and electronics, they have it all). While I took the kids to look at some books, my wife stayed behind and picked out a few things, including a Nautical Wooden Decorative Anchor. The Anchor was primed and came with a rope.
Materials/Tools Needed:
Wooden Anchor
Nylon rope
Glue gun
Hot glue sticks
Power Drill and Drill Bits (to make a hole)
Spay Paint
A Crab or a decorative piece of your choice
Step by step:
Use your Power Drill to make a hole on the Anchor (if needed)
Clean the wooden Anchor if needed
Spray paint
Secure the Anchor rope by inserting one end of the rope through the hole and hot gluing it. Then loop the rope around the Anchor and hot glue it at the base.
Hot glue the crab unto the base
Now that you’re done, place your Nautical Wooden Anchor somewhere you can see and admire it.

Yesterday late in the afternoon, as I was weeding our sidewalk and my husband was waiting for me to finish so he could help rake, one of our wonderful neighbors across the street came over to check his mail and they both started talking. Somewhere along the conversation he told my husband that he’s been wanting to ask/show us something.
My husband went ahead to check it out and it turns out that our neighbors are downgrading their furniture and are giving stuff away and they wanted us to be the first to know. So, they gave us this gorgeous 1970’s Vintage Seashell Hanging Planter which they purchased in Hawaii.
– Handmade
– High End
– About 4 feet long and 11 inches wide
– All the shells are strung together with clear fishing line.
– Constructed with steel reinforcement materials
– Could be used as a Chandelier.
– Could be used indoors or outdoors.
– Holds 2 potted plants each measuring between 4″ and 8″ in diameter.
We were surprised that after 30 years +, the Sea Shell Plant Holder is still in excellent condition with no missing shells. Above everything, we are grateful that we were first in their thoughts as they made the decision to give some furniture away and ever more so, we are thankful they chose to give it to us.
I can picture some Tradescantia Zebrina blooming in those baskets with their stems cascading over the sides. I am yet to find a location for it. As of now, it hangs pretty in the kids Playroom and we love it. They also gave us an antique solid Wood Folding TV Tray/Laptop Mobile Desk/End Table they owned for as long as they could remember.
Isn’t it great to have and to know people who constantly surprise us with their love and generosity? We are so blessed to live in a safe neighborhood with kind, helpful and friendly neighbors.
I spent most of the day sleeping and daydreaming. Good thing my kids had their Dad home today to attend to their needs while I was getting some much needed rest. I woke up just in time to get ready and go treasure hunting with the family. We made a quick stop at Toys “R” Us to find a part for, and to get an opinion on a gift we ordered for our daughter’s upcoming birthday. We also picked up something she really wants.
We then headed to Kohl’s early this evening looking at lovelies where we spent 30 minutes. I am so fond of Elle Decor and I picked up a beautiful decorative bird which was on clearance and the price was just right. Truth is, I have been waiting for this Bird to go on sale and it turned out that today was my lucky day as it was the last one in the store. Prior to exiting the store, I stock pile on Yankee Candle® simply home™ Bamboo Electric Home Fragrancer refills (Personally, I think the Bamboo fragrance is the best. It’s refreshing, relaxing, inviting and it soothes the senses as every breath you take is enjoyable).
As you can imagine, I was all smiles. Such a beautiful find.
Diner was light tonight and I decided to skip my glass of wine for tomorrow. My bundles of joy are sound asleep, which means my husband and I can finally watch all the movies we’ve been wanting to watch. If the weather permits, I will be gardening tomorrow morning or we will be adventurous enough to visit a new Antique Shop.
