Born in Cameroon, Joan Ambu studied at Collège François-Xavier Vogt and Collège de la Retraite in Yaoundé, Cameroon. She enrolled in the University of Yaoundé I in 1999, but did not finish the academic year.

She flew to the United States the same year, where she studied first in Arkansas Henderson State University, then transferred to DeVry University in California for her Bachelors and Keller Graduate School of Management for her Masters.

Joan Ambu is part of a family of five children, the eldest, died in 1998. Her father, William Ambu is a retired Colonel of the Gendarmerie Nationale Cameroon. Her mother, Alice Ambu, studied in San Jose, California and has served in several courts in Cameroon.

Joan has always had a fondness for words and discovered her passion for writing at a very young age.
She uses writing to heal, to comfort others and to communicate with the outside World.
Her works are inspired by her feelings, relationships and especially the loss of her older sister in 1998.

Married and mother of two children, Joan now lives in California, where she exercises the art of writing.
