While my girls were still asleep, I spent some quality time with my boy making fun creations with his LEGO blocks. I am always mesmerized by his ability to create beautiful things out of tiny objects.
The Giant LEGO Robot below is one which caught my attention as the head is too small for the size of the robot. I am not sure if his intention was to create a Samurai warrior, but it turned out to be a beautiful creation and he carefully balanced the pieces to make sure that the robot stands on its own without falling.
I hope our creations are inspirational to you and yours.
As some of you may already know, the sixteen-day Oktoberfest festival held each year in Munich, Germany from late September thru early October featuring beer-drinking and merrymaking is still ongoing.
I received a Grolsch Premium Lager Magnum. 1.5 L Swing Top a while back from a former co-worker which I stored at a stable temperature, in a cool dark place. I will wait until the weekend to enjoy this quality German Beer with a delicious meal; either solo or with some neighbors over good conversations.
How about the Grolsch Koel Service? Isn’t it awesome? Trading warm beers for cold Grolsch ones. I raise a glass to the clever minds behind this idea. Such a service would come in handy during the hots days of Summer.
Though tickets to the 2013 Los Angeles Oktoberfest have been sold out; there are still a couple of events going on throughout Southern California, if interested, click here to find a location nearest to you.
After sitting in my backyard car port for almost two years, I have my baby back. With two different motor jobs done on it and co-workers suggesting I should sell it and others encouraging me to “blow it” somewhere in my backyard (seriously guys?); I was determined to keep it. I have had my car for 13 years, I am the sole owner and I hope to pass it down to my son once he is ready to drive.
One night at work, I was talking to one of my co-workers and he mentioned that after going through a similar experience he was lucky enough to find a trustworthy shop who takes the time to listen to the customer’s problem and troubleshoot the cars while keeping the owner of the car updated every step of the way.
I contacted the shop the following week and was pleasantly surprised when the receptionist got the shop manager on the phone to listen to my problem. After giving him a brief summary of what I thought the issue with the car was as well as everything that was done to it; he gave me a couple of suggestions as how to proceed whether on my own or thru them. We pondered on our options and finally decided to take the car to them.
Within a couple of hours of them having my car in their possession, I got a phone call informing me of the steps taking so far and how they were planning to proceed. After almost two weeks and a couple of phone calls, I got the long-awaited phone call that the car was running and running strong. I have been driving it for a week now and it still feels strong. I can’t imagine myself parting with it.
In summary, if you are looking for professionalism and a trustworthy shop, I highly recommend Dave’s Automotive Repair located in Hesperia, CA. Five years ago, my wife found a beautiful Female Statue (Danza Del Flori by Giorgio Ceragioli) and knowing how much she loves statues and seeing the wonderful job she’s done surrounding our Home and Garden with relaxing zen sculptures, I agreed to get it for her. We paid for it and as we were about to load it into the back of the car, it collapsed and broke to pieces. After picking up all the pieces, we returned home with the promise to reconstruct it in the next following months. So days turned to weeks which turned to months and years went by. About three years ago, I glue some of the major pieces, but that was all about it. Finally on Friday, I decided to resume the restoration process.
Materials/Tools Needed:
Brushes
DAP Cement filler
Clear Tape
Paper
Scissors
Hacksaw with metal-cutting blade
Putty knife
Wire brush
Loctite Epoxy Resin
Dremel
Diamond bits
How to proceed:
Clean the pieces you plan to glue.
I used Loctite Epoxy Resin which sets in 5 minutes to glue it together. It holds up to 3,000 Psi and worked for my statue.
I position the pieces and check that they fit together. I use clear packaging tape to hold the pieces together before gluing them.
Once I had a big section done it gets added to the overall pieces which is where I am currently.
The arms will be the last to be added and then I will fill in the cracks using DAP Cement filler.
Once the pieces have been glued and filled in I will spray paint the statue and place it at a location of our choice.
Late on Tuesday afternoon I found one of three baby birds on the ground in the backyard. My first thought was that the baby bird has fallen out of its nest; however, given the amount of feathers and noticing that both parents were keeping an eye from a close distance (probably teaching the baby to fly on its own). I came to the conclusion that the baby bird was simply attempting to fly. As soon as I gently picked it up to place it back into the cozy nest, the baby bird jumped back on the ground flapping its wings and hopping around. At that point I decided to leave it alone and allow Nature to follow its course.
As the evening got windier I decided to check up on the baby bird and realized that all three young birds fad fallen off the nest. I carefully picked them up, one at a time, and placed all three back on the nest and left them there. Came next morning, and all three baby birds were gone.
This evening we enjoyed a beautiful sunset while having an awesome time outdoors. Come to think about it, it might be the third or fourth sunset I have seen since the start of the year.
I am very thankful for a lovely day with my Family.
